This whole experience came from a failed attempt at attending a festival. With great intention on a Saturday morning, we tried to go to a Jazz thing but were too early and in hindsight, probably at the wrong location lol, oh well. It all worked out... we're here discussing/listening to recordings made at the acoustically gifted natural history museum. Inside the NHM, the rotunda is 75ft in diameter and the walls are made of Italian marble, its floor of mosaic tile. The rotunda’s dome is 58 feet high, with a skylight approximately 20 feet across, designed by the eminent Walter Horace Judson.

While the architecture is visually striking of course, I'd say the interior acoustics are just as lovely. The first recording below was captured in the Gemstone and Mineral Hall. Which is pretty much what it sounds like. A part of the museum with many glass cases that house the gemstones.

*Headphones recommended for optimal Binaural experience*

My head was physically was the binaural baffling, as I used Soundman mics that fed into the PCM10. This helped a lot with the 'hiding in plain sight' aspect of the "stealth" binaural rig. Folks who maybe noticed, probably thought I was enjoying music, or a guided tour, etc and never gave it a second thought. Neither did my wife really, so...success!

Additional images from the day.

Eternal thanks to my fellow audio counterparts around the world that also share their recordings. You inspire me daily!
